Eddie George Named 2014 Daddy of The Year By Daddy & Co. and Groundbreaking Web Series, My Life As A Dad

Former Heisman Trophy winner and four-time NFL Pro Bowler Eddie George has been named 2014 Daddy of The Year by Daddy & Co. the leading supplier of gifts for dads. Robert "Daddy" Nickell, CEO of Daddy & Co. and host of the groundbreaking web series, My Life As A Dad, bestowed the honor of 2014 Daddy of The Year to George for being a true family man and being so proactive in raising his two sons.

"Daddy and Company takes great pride in choosing its annual Daddy of the Year. This year we have selected Eddie George who is a man of great achievement but in his heart his greatest moments come from being with his family and children. I have personally interviewed Eddie and believe him to be an outstanding father who understands how to listen, and nurture his children. We all know any man can be a father but it takes someone special to the dad," Nickell says.

Named NFL Rookie of The Year coming out of The Ohio State University in 1996 and holding a host of NFL records, George could have stopped there, but he decided to go back to school get his MBA and begin to build businesses and a brand. Currently an analyst on Fox Sports and host of NBC's American Dream Builder, Eddie continues to train hard and find balance to maintain his peak physical, mental and spiritual condition to meet the challenges of his demanding schedule.

Married to Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George, a Grammy nominated singer with the soul group SWV ("Sisters With Voices"), which sold more than six million records, they are the loving parents of two sons, Eriq and Jaire. They enjoy a busy life of friends, family and kids' sporting events.

"I'm extremely excited and honored to be selected as Daddy of the Year. I never really sought out to be Daddy of the Year, it's just something I try to live every day, to be a better husband and a better father. My sons motivate me on a consistent basis to be a better man and hold me true to my own principals. They hold me accountable even when they're not around, and to receive an award for that is truly an honor," George explains.

George becomes the second Daddy of The Year honoree for Daddy and Company. Passing the torch over to Eddie is 2013 honoree Ian Ziering. As spokesman for Daddy and Company in 2013, Ziering exemplified what a true family man and true dad really is to his two beautiful daughters. Said Ziering of the award, "Being a dad is the best role I've ever had. Being named Daddy of The Year is like receiving a daddy Oscar."
